# Power of A Seed *Last edited: September 1, 2021* Uppity hot-shot businessman (Bryan) lives a life devoid of meaning. He drives a fancy car, works a good but time consuming business job but isn't very happy. He comes home from work and drinks nearly every night. He has no s/o but lives an unsatisfying life of pleasure. Fluff about job, explaining that the year is 2108 Alex is sister, 6 years younger than him Alex at uni for biomed science. Out of the blue, his sister calls to tell him that his grandfather (~age 80) has died. He wasn't very close to his grandfather but has fond memories of his grandfather's place out in the country. He has not visited there in years. Main character guy feels sad (first real emotion he has felt in years) He drives out for the funeral, picking up his sister along the way. As they drive the long drive out of the city and into the country, they share memories of wandering in grandpa John's yard: getting scratches from raspberry bushes and picking flowers to give to their mother. The funeral was held in an open field surrounded by large oak, maple and pine trees. It was beautiful but sad. Many strangers were there, presumably friends of his grandfather. His sister, ever the socialite spoke to nearly every one of the guests. Bryan notices an old man with an easel on the far side of the field. He quietly slips away to see what this old guy is doing. He walks over to see what is on the easel, and sees that the painting focuses on the large birch tree beside his grandfathers gravestone. Grandpa John's grave is visible in the painting. "Looks nice" says Bryan. "Your grandfather?" Asks the old man. "Yep" responds Bryan. "He was a great man". Bryan returns to the funeral. Bryan and his sister drive back into the city. Along the way, as they drive past field after field of corn, wheat and other grains, his sister explains how the people there knew him. There were childhod friends, buddies from church, people he helped out by loaning money to, as well as neighbours who knew him simply as the friendly face at the supermarket or out on the road. Turns out grandpa John always gave a friendly smile and a wave to everyone driving past. He would always strike up a conversation with whomever. Bryan wants to say "seems like you inherited that" but holds his tongue. Halfway home, they pass the Greenleaf Agricorp l megawarehouse. Alexandra tells Bryan that she remembers one of the funeral guests explaining that grandpa John was being sued by them, and that they believed that the stress of the legal -explain the traffic problem of these roads- - battle was what killed him. "Wow, sounds like one hell of a conspiracy theory" retorts Bryan. "Yeah, they're the top employer of New Franktown". Probably just someone pulling our leg thought Bryan. "They actually just hired me" retorted Alex. She explained that her program had guaranteed employment with them and would even loan the tuition at 0 interest. "Killer deal" Bryan dropped Alex off at her apartment. Bryan goes into the office the next Monday. He has meetings, does some research, everything normal. Tuesday, they win a lawsuit & Bryan and his team go out for drinks. The company commanders the club and let's one of the team members Sam be DJ. Sam is cool, with the one quirk that he requests the music playlists of each witness to be used for 'character analysis'. Everyone knows that he's only doing that to get inspiration for the office band he wants to start. So far: 0 takers for that offer. Sam wants to get the party started so he sets up his muspad to play some electric dance music with heavy bass and a groovy beat. His strategy seems to be working- he has a song for every occasion. Bryan's team get so wasted that they don't even realize Bryan step out to take a call. It's his uncle. "Your grandfather John had a box of things for you" "oh okay" "when would you be home to receive it?" "Saturday probably" "I'll have them drop it off for you then" "thanks for the call, bye" Friday, Bryan is pretty much settled into his routine and has nearly completely forgotten about his grandfater's funeral and everything associated with it. He goes out to the bar. At the bar, he sees a cute girl. He walks over, trying to channel his sister's aura of friends with everyone she meets. They chat for a while. Her name is Cayleague: a funky spelling to be sure, but not the wierdest way Bryan has seen the name spelt. They each offer to buy the other a drink at the same time. Cayleague giggles. Eventually they settle on who's buying what. Sometime after they've both finished their 2nd drink, Bryan figures out that Cayleague has never had this bar's famous nachos. He rectifies this quickly. Cayleague tells him that these are the best nachos she's ever had. They go back to Bryan's place that night. Despite it being nearly lunchtime, Bryan is startled awake the next morning by his door intercom. "Package for Bryan" says the delivery guy. Bryan begrudgingly heads to the front door, trying but failing to move quietly enough to not rouse Cayleague. "So you're Bryan." He responds groggily "I think so", giving the delivery guy a good chuckle. "Well in that case, just sign here:" pointing to the stylus and signpad. Cayleague, having awoken and gotten dressed,
